INTRODUCTION
The last decade in shipping can be summarised by one word - growth. Growth has, after the market collapse, been replaced with survival and cost cutting. Shipping companies cannot expect to be sustainable if it has a higher long term cost level than its competitors. How to reduce the long term cost level is the key challenge for the new reality in shipping.
Bulkforum invites you to a cost cutting seminar where we will share our experience of best industry practices within OPEX and Voyage Costs. The seminar will give practical advice of quick wins and long term initiatives with success stories and pitfalls.

- Understand the importance of competent and motivated crew and learn how to ensure success of cost cutting initiatives.
- Understand critical success factors during all phases of a cost cutting initiative (from idea to implementation onboard)
- Learn how to measure the effect of different cost cutting initiatives

ABOUT THE LECTURERS
Odd Arne Haueng, Business Development LeaderOperational Excellence and Energy Efficiency dept., DNV
Odd Arne Haueng is a former naval commander and graduated from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy in 1992. He holds a specialisation in navigation and naval operations and completed the Norwegian Defence Staff College in 2004. He has an extensive experience in planning and execution of naval operations. His last assignment was as an executive officers on board RNoN Fridtjof Nansen, the first in a series of five frigates for the Royal Norwegian Navy. Odd Arne is an experienced project manager and has gained international work experience from project work together with leading players in the maritime industry, comprising strategy development, business improvement projects and competence management.
Christoffer Bøhmer, Principal Consultant, Energy Efficiency, DNVChristoffer Bøhmer holds a Master of Science degree from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 1996. He has worked for DNV for 10 years, mainly working with approval and assessment of planned maintenance systems and condition monitoring for ships in operation. He has been responsible for the development of DNV rules for use of planned maintenance systems and condition monitoring alternatives and later been working with shipping companies to establish and implement maintenance strategies as well as optimization of maintenance plans.
